Timothy Harding and Shelby David Meier
500x Gallery announces "New Paintings" showcasing recent work by members Timothy Harding and Shelby David Meier. Harding’s work explores painting as modular units that feed off one another and their surroundings through a scrambled repetition of marks and information. Meier's recent work is about paintings; it is also about value, time, commodity and objectness.
Rooted in an investigation of the innocuous and the nefarious, objects and video work stand in as metaphors for unrest, disgust and a resilience that is as much dependent upon as it is veiled by absurdity. The relationships formed within these visual inquiries suggest tokens of memory and a narrative that can unravel into different scenarios. With a process mining both the past and the present, the orchestration of scavenged, crafted and manipulated media often sheds light on as many questions as answers.
