SEAN ADAM IBANEZ

Statement

My work operates on the simple physics of one material interfering with another. I enjoy the simple causality of one material being manipulated by the form that's holding it.

While the processes may vary, I typically work between paper and fabric, pinning and folding to create forms. These forms often harbor powders or liquids that are easily disturbed by the breath or touch of the viewer. The simple relationships between materials are devoid of reference and thus leave the viewer to quiet inspection of purely physical moments.

The underlying theme becomes one of existentialism and beauty—without definite purpose or without inherent meaning, one can only take in what is present.
