Christopher Nájera Estrada
Christopher Nájera Estrada (He/Him, b.1992) is an artist currently based out of Fort Worth, Texas.
Nájera received their BFA in Studio Art along with a BFA in Visual Studies in 2014. Through the use of mixed media, he investigates queer identity in the world of Chicanism and the role these cultures and experiences play in creating tension and juxtaposition as a son of immigrants. Najera’s work questions gender roles and ideologies that were imposed onto him as a child and strives to break down the harmful components found within his own culture by approaching them head on with appreciation and the same tenderness found within it. Najera ultimately creates a space where these intersectionalities are brought to the forefront, re-wired and reinterpreted to alter the narrative with one full of celebration.
