Bio

Dallas was born in American Fork Utah in 1998 shortly after which his family moved to Dallas Tx. He spent the formative years of his life living in the downtown area of the city of Dallas where both the urban street art and curated museums heavily impacted his practice. Dallas graduated with a BFA in New Media Arts from the University of North Texas in December of 2021. His practice consists of a mix of both traditional and digital art making processes that pull primarily from surrealist imagery and illustrative animated forms. Dallas’s work has been showcased in B - Space art Gallery as well as being featured in the Greater Denton arts Councils “30 under 30” exhibition in 2021.

Artist Statement

My artistic practice tends to be a reflection of the exploration of the ethereal realm that creating art brings us all to. My artistic practice uses illustration, mixed media painting, and new media digital experiences to create windows into these other worlds that we  generate within ourselves. I craft these metaphorical windows through the expression of an amalgamation of the natural world around us, as well as the unnatural rigidity of our societal structures, and the messy place where the two meet. I often consider my place living in the natural world, how we have altered it, and how it has altered me. These instances of personal metamorphosis shape and drive my work. I attempt to convey this in my art through the use of intense familiar imagery, complex and energetic forms, and bold uses of color and technique. I want my work to fill the viewer with the same sense of wonder and childlike curiosity that guides me through the process of creation.
